A trial lesson is a great opportunity provided by Tutopiya for new students to experience our teaching approach before committing to a package. When you accept a trial lesson, it means you have the chance to showcase your expertise and engage with the student, allowing them to make an informed decision about choosing you as their tutor.

It's important to be well-prepared and make a positive and memorable first impression during the trial lesson as it leaves the student eager to continue learning with you.

How do I get students from Tutopiya?

Tutors will get students for a trial lesson in 2 ways.

1. Automated booking.

If you have indicated your profile as available for trials, updated your free slots and have the subjects and curriculums added to your profile, students can directly book you for a trial lesson 24 hours in advance for a trial lesson. You can get more trials if you set your trial lesson notice period to less than 6 hours!

2. Trial lesson broadcast

If you have indicated your profile as available for trials, updated your free slots and have the subjects and curriculums added to your profile, Tutopiya student advisors will broadcast trial opportunities to all potential tutors. If you are interested, you can click as "interested".

Please note that all tutors who are interested will be clicking as interested and out of these tutors the platform will automatically pick one tutor and assign the trial. The rest of the tutors will get notified that the trial was assigned to another tutor.

  • What happens after I do a trial lesson with a student?

After completing a trial lesson with a student, there are two possible outcomes, both of which provide valuable opportunities for growth. If the student is satisfied with your teaching and decides to sign up for Tutopiya lessons, congratulations! You will not only continue to have regular lessons with the student but also receive payment for the trial lesson you conducted. It's a rewarding experience to witness your teaching skills making a positive impact on students.

In the event that the student decides not to sign up for Tutopiya lessons, it's considered as an unsuccessful trial. While you won't be compensated for the trial lesson, it can serve as a valuable learning experience. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, tutors who encounter unsuccessful trials are offered a performance review. This review aims to provide guidance, support, and additional resources to help you enhance your teaching techniques and create a more positive impact on students in future trials.

Remember, each trial lesson is a stepping stone towards becoming an even better tutor. Embrace the feedback and insights gained from these experiences, and let them propel you towards greater success in your tutoring journey with Tutopiya.

  • After the trial, how will I know if the student was satisfied with my lesson?

As soon as the trial lesson is completed, Tutopiya's dedicated student advisors will promptly communicate the outcome to you as the tutor. If the student or their parent confirms their satisfaction and decides to continue with Tutopiya lessons, the student advisor will inform you about the number of hours purchased by the student specifically for your tutoring. This exciting news is a testament to your impactful teaching!

Additionally, you can easily keep track of the trial lesson status by checking the lesson history tab within your tutor account. This feature allows you to stay updated and informed about the progress of your trial lessons and subsequent engagements with students.
